Setback in the Northgate bridge

The Northgate project, which is expected to bring more than 10,000 homes and countless business into Southeastern Idaho, has hit a snag in a connective bridge.

The bridge, which would connect the complex with the I-86 and I-15 freeways, will not be completed by November as initially planned.

According to Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad, “The state has put it off for a little while. The bids came in too high and so now we’ve had to reject the bids, and we’ll re-bid the project, extend the timeline out. The timeline now is gonna be in August as opposed to this November.”

This setback isn’t expected to have any major impacts, aside from leaving a dead end road.

Construction will continue on the rest of the project, building homes and roads, in the meantime.
