Early voting on school ballot issues underway
Early voting is now underway in Bonneville County for patrons of the District 91 and District 93 school districts. A special election is scheduled August 28.
In District 93, voters are being asked to approve a two-year, $5.8 million per year supplemental levy. The money has been used in the past to help meet basic maintenance and operation expenses.
Idaho Falls District 91 voters face two building bond questions. The first is an $86.2 million bond to pay for renovating, repairing, equipping and furnishing Skyline High School. building a new Idaho Falls High School and remodeling a portion of the existing Idaho Falls High School campus. The remodeling would modify the IFHS campus to develop a career and technical education center.
The second question on the District 91 ballot would be a subsequent $13.3 million bond to finance the cost of a district-wide performing arts center in conjunction with the Skyline High School renovation, and a multi-purpose facility for physical education, athletics, performing arts and large group meetings in conjunction with the new Idaho Falls High School facility.
The projects in the second ballot measure would not be undertaken unless voters approve the first question.
The Idaho Falls School Board has scheduled two public meetings next week to explain the projects and answer public questions about them.
The first is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, at Taylorview Middle School.
The second public meeting is set for 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, at Eagle Rock Middle School.
