Yellowstone Park watching two natural fires

Two significant fires are now burning in Yellowstone National Park.

The Basin Creek fire was discovered Friday. It is 0.2 acres in size and burning in a forested area 5 miles south of Heart Lake. The park has closed some backcountry sites as a precautionary measure.

The Bacon Rind fire has grown to 1,321 acres in the northwest corner of the park. A relatively small area closure is affecting all park trails in that area.

Thanks to lower temperatures and increased moisture, park officials expect growth of that fire to be moderate this week.

You can find more information on area closures here.
