(Below is an article explaining the nuts and bolts of each bond and levy.)
Several school funding issues are on the ballot in eastern Idaho Tuesday.
Most polling places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Registered voters must have resided in their respective districts for at least 30 days preceding the election.
The Idaho Falls School District #91 proposes an $86.2 million building bond to renovate Skyline High School and construct and equip a new Idaho Falls High School. Assuming that bond is approved, a second issue would seek $13.3 million to finance a district-wide performing arts center at Skyline High School and multi-purpose physical education and performing arts center in conjunction with the new Idaho Falls High School. The bond requires a two-thirds majority.
The Jefferson School District #251 is seeking approval of a $36 million building bond issue. It plans a new elementary school on the east side of the district and expansion of the Harwood and Midway Elementary schools. Farnsworth Elementary would be re-purposed as an additional middle school. The bond requires a two-thirds majority.
The Madison School District #321 is asking voters to renew a two-year, $1.995 million supplemental levy. In addition to technology and curriculum updates, funding would also be used to upgrade security cameras and bulletproof glass. The supplemental levy requires a simple majority approval.
The Bonneville School Board #93 is seeking approval for a two-year $5.8 million supplemental levy to support existing programs. The supplemental levy requires a simple majority approval.
And, the Aberdeen School District #58 is seeking approval of a 10-year, $275,000 per year plant facility levy to maintain existing buildings and facilities. It will require 55 percent approval.
