Rape trial of Ex-Utah State football player begins

The trial of a former Utah State football player accused of sexually assaulting seven women is set to begin.

Jurors will hear opening statements Monday in Brigham City in the case against 25-year-old Torrey Green.

The former student athlete faces charges of committing rape, kidnapping and other felony crimes between 2013 and 2015 when he was at the school.

Green has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A judge moved the trial outside of Logan, siding with defense attorneys who said Green could not get a fair trial.

The case has drawn additional attention because of Green’s race. He is African-American and the victims are white.

The former football star had signed a free agent contract with the Atlanta Falcons but was released from it when the allegations became public.
