D91 sets supplemental levy for March election

The Idaho Falls Board of Trustees is asking District 91 patrons to renew its $6.8 million supplemental levy, which provides critical funding for Idaho Falls’ schools.

The board passed a resolution at its Jan. 16 meeting asking patrons to renew the levy on March. 12.

The levy has been in place for more than 30 years, and the amount has not changed since 2003, but Idaho law requires patrons to renew supplemental levies every two years.

“This levy provides the district with critical funding to stay competitive and hire and retain the very best teachers,” said Superintendent Boland. “Recruiting and retaining high-quality staff is more challenging than ever with the ongoing teacher shortage, competition from other states and the tight labor market.”

The election will be held March 12 with polls open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

All eligible voters living within Idaho Falls School District 91’s boundaries can vote in the election.
