The third annual Women’s March returns to Idaho Falls

Two years after the massive protest in the nation’s capital, millions marched around the country holding their own simultaneous protests. Idaho Falls was of the cities across the country to commence in the third annual Women’s March event on Saturday. In a global show of supporting civil and human rights, local community members gathered at the Idaho Falls public library joining women around the country in solidarity. The event launched with keynote speakers sharing personal stories on women who’d positively influenced their lives. The crowd of people attending the celebration joined together in collaboration to march across the Broadway Bridge. The march was led by an all-female color guard team joined by the 69th Rangers BPSA Scout Group. This year’s theme is “Women’s Wave.” Like other cities across the nation, Idaho Falls took its own spin on the theme’s term. Organizers of the local march set this year’s goal to empower east Idaho women to be more involved in the community efforts and to build a stronger presence of women in local politics. Miranda Marquit, Lead Organizer of the Idaho Falls Women’s March says, “This is a way for alike women to meet and discuss efforts for women’s empowerment and equality to move forward.” The rally concluded with a message from Mayor, Rebecca Casper with a talk on the importance of women running for office.
