Skier rescued, OK after night in Wyoming backcountry
Searchers have rescued a skier who spent the night in the backcountry after taking a wrong turn in western Wyoming.
Authorities haven’t identified the 26-year-old man but say he is OK and didn’t need medical attention after his rescue Friday.
Cody Lockhart with Teton County Search and Rescue tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide the man took a wrong turn Thursday afternoon near Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Lockhart says the man went into a canyon in whiteout conditions. The man’s friends alerted search and rescue Thursday night.
The man stayed warm by hiking uphill and was spotted by helicopter Friday morning.
