Math teachers’ favorite day of the year: Pi Day

Thursday is National Pi Day. It is the day to help celebrate the mathematical constant 3.14.

Lori Biggs’ trigonometry class at Bonneville High School broke out their forks and knives to celebrate the day with the kind of pie you eat.

While the class was chowing down on dessert, they also had a lesson on a circle’s circumference in relation to its diameter.

“Since we’re in trigonometry it plays a big role in the angles that we do and the formulas that we use, so it’s a pretty big deal in our class,” said Liz Williams, a junior at Bonneville High School.
