TRPTA bus drivers miss final check

A number of Targhee Regional Public Transportation Authority employees did not receive their final paychecks as expected Friday. The legal, corporate operation of the public transit system officially ended Thursday. The transit service halted bus service Tuesday.

Bonneville County Commissioner Dave Radford is working as a member of the former TRPTA board of directors to help resolve outstanding financial issues.

Although Bonneville County has paid its obligations, Radford said the county is helping to facilitate discussions with the Federal Transportation Administration. Those talks are aimed at securing matching funds to help settle outstanding debts.

Although PERSI retirement obligations have been fully paid, he said there are still some utilities, legal bills, and other vendors, in addition to affected employees, which are unpaid.

A former employee, Carmen Figueroa, shared with us a letter from the bus company to explain why she may not be able to pay some of her bills this month.
