Idaho Falls man killed in weekend shooting incident
UPDATE 5/13/18 2:50 p.m. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office reports the victim from the shooting incident, 23-year-old Michael A. Ephram of Idaho Falls, died on Saturday from the injuries sustained in the shooting incident.
The sheriff’s office says the circumstances of the event involved two separate parties shooting guns near 75 West in the area of the old National Guard Training Range, and both parties were target shooting in slightly different areas a few hundred feet apart.
According to the sheriff’s office, Ephram was outside the vehicle and was struck in the head with a bullet and did not regain consciousness. Rounds also struck the vehicle Ephram and his companions were in.
The sheriff’s office says the individual that fired the rounds that struck Ephram and the related vehicle has been cooperative in the investigation and has been in contact with detectives.
The preliminary investigation indicates the incident was not intentional.
The Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has been consulted and will review the case when it is completed.
This case is still an active investigation and Bonneville detectives are processing the evidence and continuing with related interviews and details.

One man was transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center on Saturday evening with a gunshot wound. The incident happened around 6:45 p.m., 3 miles west of Idaho Falls off of Highway 20. The victim was transported in an SUV to a location where those involved could get cell service to call an ambulance.
The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office says two parties were involved and everyone from both parties has been accounted for; however, it did not say how many people were in those parties. The Sheriff’s Office is not sure yet what caused the shooting. There have not been any arrests made at this time. There is no threat to the public. The incident is under investigation.
