Dome technology builds the third dome water tank in East Idaho
Dome Technology broke ground on the third dome water tank in the area in Iona on June 5th.
Friday morning, they inflated the dome in preparation for the next phase.
Now that the dome is ‘airformed,’ construction on the inside will commence. The water tank will be a steel-reinforced concrete structure with a domed roof and be of great use to the community.
“Increased capabilities to fight fires, multiple fires in town is the big thing, I think it will help with their pressures at some point in town. Long term it’s a great investment for the city and it’s going to save them money today and in the long run maintenance wise,” said Dome Technology’s project manager, Daren Wheeler.
Wheeler predicts the new technology water tank to last the same amount of time as a traditional water tank, if not longer. Making it a great investment for taxpayers in Iona.
The one million dollar water tank is expected to be finished by the end of November.
Dome Technology has built similar tanks in Sugar City and Shelley.
