Suspect arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails at deputies

    MADISON COUNTY, Arkansas (KHBS, KHOG) — Madison County Sheriff’s officials arrested a suspect accused of throwing Molotov cocktails at deputies and patrol vehicles during a pursuit, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

According to the release, Daniel Harvey is accused of going to the Madison County Holding Facility around 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, making “disturbing comments” to a deputy and brandishing a knife.

Officials said Harvey sped off in his car, but later stopped and threw a Molotov cocktail at a deputy as he was getting out of his patrol vehicle. Harvey is accused of then exiting his car with a machete. Madison County officials said the deputy deployed a taser, but it was ineffective.

According to the release, Harvey led deputies on a pursuit, stopping at several locations to throw Molotov cocktails at patrol vehicles.

Deputies said they arrested Harvey after he pulled into his residence off HWY 23 Spur. No one was injured during the incident.

Harvey is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond.

He faces charges including attempted capital murder, terroristic act and aggravated assault.
