Surprise text focuses murder trial of ex-politician accused of killing Las Vegas reporter

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A surprise text asking “Where are you?” focused testimony in the trial of a former Las Vegas-area politician accused of killing a veteran investigative reporter. It shows defendant Robert Telles’ wife wondered where he was about the same time reporter Jeff German was ambushed and killed on Labor Day weekend 2022. A prosecutor produced evidence Thursday that the message had been deleted from Telles’ phone. Telles testified earlier that he was at home, went for a walk and then to a gym that day. He returns to the witness stand Friday for more questioning from prosecutors who allege he meticulously planned and carried out German’s killing after the reporter wrote articles critical of him.
