Here’s a look at the US military presence in the Middle East

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. is sending several additional Air Force fighter jet squadrons to the Middle East, beefing up what has already been an increased military presence there as the region teeters on the brink of all-out war. U.S. officials say the decision brings the number of troops in the region to as many as 43,000. More than a dozen warships and the aircraft are spread across the region to protect U.S. and allies and serve as a deterrent against attacks. A surge in attacks by Israel on Hezbollah in Lebanon has fueled fears the conflict is escalating to all-out war in the Middle East.
