Hearing continued for Downey woman facing charges of hiding newborn baby’s body

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - A court hearing has been continued for a Downey woman facing charges of hiding her newborn baby's body.

The Bannock County prosecutor is charging Jessica Lynn Weeks of failing to report a death and injury to a child.

The sheriff's office learned about the baby after an inmate at the Cache County Jail in Logan revealed it to officers in June.

Court records say the baby died shortly after Weeks gave birth back in January.

Deputies say the body was placed in a suitcase that was hidden in a doghouse.

Weeks in now scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 21.
