Pocatello man arrested for Sunday morning shooting

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) — Bonneville County Sheriff’s office said they have arrested a Pocatello man in connection to an early Sunday morning shooting in Ammon.

Deputies said a man was shot in the arm on Upland Drive around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.  They said his injury was not life-threatening.

Tearian Lopez, 26, was arrested after deputies spotted his suspected vehicle leaving the area of the shooting.

Deputies found a handgun and ammunition in the car that was the same as the shell casings found at the shooting scene.  Deputies said they also matched the vehicle’s tire prints in the snow.

Lopez is charged with Aggravated Battery and is expected to be in court this afternoon for his first appearance.

Deputies said they are still investigating the shooting.

UPDATE 9:00 a.m. 1/13/2025
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (BCSO) — A Pocatello man has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident on Upland St. yesterday morning (Jan. 12th). Around 6:30am yesterday morning as Deputies were responding to the shooting, they located a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Tearian Lopez leaving the area. Lopez and the vehicle had been described as the suspect in the shooting leaving one man with a gunshot wound to the arm. 

Mr. Lopez was detained by Deputies at that time and admitted there was a handgun in the vehicle. The handgun was located in the vehicle and contained ammunition that was the same as shell casings found at the scene. Deputies also matched tire prints in the snow and other witness information with Mr. Lopez and his vehicle.  

Lopez was transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked on a Felony Charge of Aggravated Battery. There were no other occupants in Mr. Lopez’s vehicle and no other injuries from the shooting. Deputies are continuing to investigate, and no further information is available at this time.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (BCSO) – Bonneville County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating an early morning shooting incident that injured a man. Around 6:30 a.m. Deputies and Idaho Falls Fire were sent to a residence on Upland St. to report that a man had been shot. Deputies in the area stopped a vehicle reported to have left the scene and detained a suspect involved in the incident. 

When Deputies arrived they located a man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm. The man was transported by Idaho Falls Ambulance to the hospital for treatment. 

The investigation is ongoing and Deputies do not believe there is any known threat to the area stemming from this incident.  Further information will be released as it becomes available.
