Iran security forces kill 2, arrest 2 over deadly attack
CAIRO (AP) — Iran’s state media says security forces killed two men and arrested two others suspected of carrying out a shooting in the restive southwest last month that left seven people dead. State media said Wednesday that the four were involved in the attack, which left seven people dead in the city of Izeh. The authorities gave no further details about the timing of the operation or the suspects’ identities. The government called the shooting a terrorist attack, while families and rights groups have blamed security forces for opening fire on civilians. Protests have wracked Iran since the Sept. 16 death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman in the custody of Iran’s morality police.
