BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgian prosecutors say a former European Parliament vice-president suspected of being at the center of one of the European Union’s biggest corruption scandals must remain in prison for at least another month. Prosecutors say Eva Kaili, who has been in prison since Dec. 9, has 24 hours to appeal the decision. She’s accused of corruption, membership of a criminal organization and money laundering. Kaili was removed from her parliamentary post last week. The Greek former TV news presenter is suspected of working with a group trying to peddle influence at the assembly. Her lawyer, Andre Risopolous, said Thursday that Kaili is cooperating with investigators and ”rejects all corruption allegations against her.”
