Hall check incident at Pocatello High School
POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – Pocatello High School was placed in a brief hall check due to a police matter at the school Monday.
The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District reports the hall check came at the request of law enforcement and as an extra safety precaution.
The Pocatello Police Department received a report of a weapon near campus. Officers responded, secured the scene and located the weapon without incident.
There is no ongoing threat to the school or the public.
This is now a police matter, and the district is unable to share any further details.
"What is important to reiterate at this time is that during these types of incidents, school administration and the school resource officer work hand-in-hand to immediately initiate the district’s safety protocols. The PHS school administration and the school resource officer took action based on information received from students. We all play a role in keeping our communities safe. Together with our law enforcement partners, including the Pocatello Police Department, we encourage parents to talk with their children and reinforce the concept of “if you see something, say something,” as we continue to work together to keep our school communities safe."
