Investigating human trafficking issues

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (KIFI) - A massage parlor in Rock Springs, Wyo. has been under investigation for the past month. Local Wyoming law enforcement officers are suspecting human trafficking is happening within the parlor. They believe they are forcing the workers to perform massages in public and perform sexual actions behind the scenes.

We decided to talk with our own local Idaho law enforcement officials about this matter and see what they were seeing. Sergeant Bryan Lovell with the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office said they occasionally locate missing people and runaways that are fleeing from these types of human trafficking cases, but they don't ever usually see a full operation.

While finding these people is great news for their safety, it is only one piece of the puzzle. The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office works with other regional agencies to help them find the other pieces that are perhaps located outside of the county. For example, they work with ICAC or the Idaho Crimes Against Children to protect kids from the dangers of the internet.

If you see anything suspicious at all, each sheriff's department has their own non-emergency phone number. For Bonneville County, it's 208-529-1200.
