South Fremont opens season with a 20-8 victory over Wood River

ST. ANTHONY, Idaho (KIFI) - The South Fremont Cougars began their season on the right note Friday night, taking down the Wood River Wolverines 20-8.

Defense reigned supreme in a scoreless 1st quarter, but the next period proved to be the difference. Bryce Johnson scored the first touchdown of the season on a 10-yard rush for a 6-0 lead.

Then, Hunter Hobbs made two big plays for South. First, Hobbs picked off the Wolverines to give his team great field position, and he scored the rushing touchdown a few plays later. After a two-point conversion, the Cougars led 14-0.

Wood River drew closer in the 2nd half, but an insurance touchdown propelled South Fremont to a 20-8 win.

Next up, South Fremont heads to Timberlake next Friday night with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
