UPDATE Feb. 26, 2020 2:10 p.m.: Pocatello police say Neal Stuart Nevada, 23, of Fort Hall was the suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting.


ORIGINAL STORY:

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A suspect armed with a knife is dead following a confrontation with police Tuesday night.

Authorities said it started as a domestic disturbance on the 400 block of Dunn Street between an adult male and a female. The call came in just after 11 p.m. Tuesday night.

Before officers arrived at the location, a 23-year-old suspect left the scene in a vehicle.

Police were able to catch up to him at Stansbury Street and 2nd Ave.

Officers said they got into a confrontation with the suspect and saw that he had a knife. An officer then shot him.

Authorities say life-saving measures were performed but the man died.

The suspect's name is not being released at this time.

No officers were harmed.

An investigation is being conducted by the East Idaho Critical Incident Task Force being led by Idaho State Police.
