Idaho Falls airport to begin expansion this summer
Starting this summer, Idaho Falls Regional Airport will begin expanding southward in order to build more hangars.
Airport officials say there’s already a hangar waiting list of about eight people.
“It’s a taxi lane and ramp and some access roads and utilities for future hangar development,” said the airport’s director, Craig Davis. “The airport provides the infrastructure, and then interested parties lease the land and construct their own hangars at the airport.”
The expansion is being funded by an annual $1.7 million grant the airport receives from the Federal Aviation Administration and will take place on land the airport already owns.
Saturday the city’s citizen review committee unveiled several recommendations for improving the airport including hiring an airport operations manager and starting ad campaign to attract new business to the airport.
The committee will present their recommendations to the Idaho Falls City Council on Monday.
