Local junior high student gives every girl a heart-shaped balloon

A local junior high school student spent hundreds of dollars on his valentine, but he didn’t pick just one.

Keegan Wolfe gave every girl at Madison Junior High a heart-shaped balloon. He said when he became class president, his biggest priority was to make sure all of the students felt appreciated.

“How can I make this so fun and make it fun for everybody? And I’m like Valentine’s Day, what’s a better day? I mean you got the hearts and everything like that, so I’m going to bring something totally awesome for everybody to do. And I brought balloons because who doesn’t like a balloon?”

So Keegan went to work. He called the dollar store and placed an order for 650 heart-shaped balloons.

“And it took them a while to process, ‘Yeah, yeah you really want this done?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’m good for this. Let’s do this.’ And they were like, ‘OK, let’s see what we can do.’ So they gathered up all of the balloons from all around Idaho and all the other Dollar stores in the district, and me and my dad and my uncle showed up at the Dollar Tree here in Rexburg at 5 in the morning with a trailer, got all of the balloons stuffed in the back of the trailer and drove down the road,” he said.

A lot of the girls didn’t know the balloons were from Keegan. He tried to pass them out anonymously.

“We started off with five or six kids, of my friends, and they each got a bundle of 75 or 50 balloons, and they went and found another person, and then they split the bundle,” Keegan said. “It spiraled down and we ended with almost 20 kids handing out balloons that day.”

He said the girls absolutely loved getting something for Valentine’s Day.

“I did run into a little bit of problems with their boyfriends though. They weren’t too thrilled when they found out I gave all of their girlfriends heart balloons and that didn’t go over too well. But in the end it was okay though. In the end, we were all good,” he said.

Keegan said it feels great to see everyone so happy.

“It was so nice because junior high can be not awesome on Valentine’s Day for a lot of girls and guys too, and it was just so nice to see that totally turned around,” he said.

Keegan bought most of the balloons with his own hard-earned money. He only had a little bit of help from his parents.

“Believe it or not, I’m still single. Even after 650 heart balloons still single, so you know,” said Keegan.

Keegan wasn’t the only local student make all the girls in his school feel special. Marshall Kohler gave roses to all 292 girls at Shelley High School. He also spent his own money on all of the flowers.
