Intermountain Gas seeks rate hike
Intermountain Gas is seeking a 2.9% increase in its residential Energy Efficiency Charge. If approved by the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, the hike would take effect October 1.
The charge pays for the energy efficiency rebate program and is included on customers’ monthly bills. Those programs lower customer demand, which means the company doesn’t have to invest as much in additional infrastructure and supplies.
Intermountain currently offers rebates for the installation of high-efficient equipment like furnaces and water heaters. A rebate is also available for construction of new Energy Star certified homes.
The proposed increase would increase program funds by $4.3 million over current levels. If approved, it would raise an average residential customer bill by an average $1.07 per month.
