TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio (WLWT) — An Ohio teenager has a lot to be proud of after graduating college before graduating high school.
Abbie Campana is the first student from Lakeview Local Schools, located in northeastern Ohio, to graduate with both an associate’s degree from college and a high school diploma. School officials said she graduated from college first.
According to Lakeview school officials, Campana had been taking College Credit Plus at Youngstown State University since her sophomore year of high school. She decided to map out how to get her associate’s degree before she graduated high school.
Campana has been taking college classes full-time at YSU for the past two years, school officials said. By May, she earned her 80 credit hours and graduated with a 4.0 GPA.

She earned her associate’s degree in business administration.
School officials said all the college credits also counted toward her high school diploma. Days after graduating from YSU, Campana graduated from Lakeview High School as valedictorian.
Campana is planning to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall where she will be considered a freshman but will be taking junior-level classes.
The teenager wants to earn a bachelor’s in supply chain management, which she will be able to obtain in two years.
