Police: Secretary embezzles from lawyer

Idaho Falls police said said a woman embezzled money from a law office.

Misti D. Bird, 36, was arrested Tuesday morning on a warrant of four counts of forgery and one count grand theft by embezzlement.

Officers began investigating Bird at the end of March after her former employer, Reginald Reeves, said he discovered Bird had embezzled more than $16,000 from his law office. Bird was his secretary until she was fired in January 2013.

Police said the thefts began in 2011.

Bird was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
