How you can help tornado victims

Former KIDK employee Ken Garcia is helping victims of Monday’s tornado in his role as the communications director for the Central and Western regions of the Oklahoma Red Cross.

Eyewitness News Anchor Todd Kunz asked him about the tornado recovery efforts in Oklahoma and what Eastern Idahoans can do to help.

“Right now, our main priority is making sure that we can begin the relief process because there’s going to be a lot of people out there needing that basic need of finding a place to go and where they can get something to eat,” Garcia said. “So we’ve started opening up some shelters.”

In addition, he said mental health workers were providing support to the victims.

Garcia said monetary donations were the best way people in eastern Idaho could help those affected by the tornado. He said the money donated would be used to buy supplies like water, food and blankets that would be given to the victims.
