Fire damages Ammon home

An Ammon man is safe after his home suffered significant smoke damage in an early Friday morning fire.

Ammon firefighters were called to 3695 Samuel St. around 6 a.m. to find the home full of smoke. The homeowner was not identified.

Fire Marshal Keith Banda said rechargable batteries on a charger started the fire with a small explosion. The fire started in a back room of the house and quickly spread.
