U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan met by protesters after arriving in Idaho Falls
Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan, arrived in Idaho Falls Tuesday, greeted by protesters outside the Idaho Falls Regional Airport. Ryan was en route to a private fundraiser after spending the day in Boise.
“I am not an activist but this past year has scared me,” attendee Melanie Radford, of Idaho Falls, said. “I’m scared.”
The group did not have one unified message, they had several messages they wanted Ryan to hear.
“Health care, not orange hair,” the group chanted.
About 30 people attended the rally.
“For someone like me to stand up and say this is not OK takes a lot,” Radford said. “If you have a little, stand up and say this is not OK. We need to stand up for each other.”
It was reported that Ryan was attending a private fundraiser at Meleleuca. KIFI/KIDK reached out to the company but has not heard back.
Before arriving in Idaho Falls, Ryan spent the day at another private fundraiser in Boise. The fundraiser was to raise money for his re-election campaign and his political committees. The event cost $10,000 to be part of a roundtable discussion and $5,000 for a photo opportunity.
No one from Ryan’s office has returned calls about his stops in Idaho.
