Arrest made following rollover crash that killed a juvenile
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 11/20/23: On Nov. 16, 2023, Idaho Falls police officers arrested 30-year-old Jessica Martinez in connection to a fatality vehicle collision that occurred on Nov. 15, 2023.
Martinez, the driver of the vehicle, admitted to officers she had consumed alcohol prior to driving. An open bottle of liquor was also found at the scene of the crash.
Martinez was arrested for felony vehicular homicide and three counts of felony injury to a child and was booked into the Bonneville County Jail.
ORIGINAL: A juvenile died as a result of injuries sustained in a rollover accident Wednesday.
According to the Idaho Falls Police Department and the Idaho Falls Fire Department, at about 11 p.m., the Idaho Falls/Bonneville County Dispatch Center received a call reporting a traffic accident with injuries.
Due to the location of where the initial call was pinged by the Dispatch Center, the Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls Fire Department, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police were dispatched and responded to the area of 2080 E. 65th South, just east of Sandy Downs.
When first responders arrived, they noted a rollover accident involving a single vehicle. The vehicle had five occupants inside at the time of the accident. There was one adult female and four juveniles.
Ambulance personnel from the Idaho Falls Fire Department transported one adult female in stable condition to a local hospital. One juvenile was also transported by ambulance but died as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
The incident is still under investigation, and no other information will be released at this time.
