Sugar Loaf Fire estimated at 5,000 acres
EDEN, Idaho (KIFI) - UPDATE 6/30/22: The Bureau of Land Management reports the Sugar Loaf Fire burning five miles west of Eden is mostly out, but crews continue to build containment lines and mop up hot spots.
Access to the fire is difficult and crews will be working with aircraft to secure the fires edge.
Fire is still estimated at 5,000 acres, but a mapping mission is scheduled for today, to get an accurate acreage.
7 engines, 1 dozer and 1 helicopter remain on scene.
With the threat to structures and equipment reduced, First Segregation RFD has been released.
Estimated containment is set for 6/30 at 8 p.m. with control set for 7/1 at 8 p.m.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
