Snow with gusty winds for Tuesday and Wednesday
EASTERN IDAHO (KIFI) – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory and Winter Storm Warning for eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. Thanks to a strong cold front arriving Tuesday, we could see near blizzard conditions. The main concern will be blowing and drifting snow on area highways and interstates.
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TUESDAY TO 5 PM MST WEDNESDAY:
- WHAT: Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6
inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. - WHERE: Arco/Mud Lake Desert-Upper Snake River Plain- Including
the cities of Mud Lake, INL, Craters of the Moon NM, Idaho
Falls, Rexburg, and St. Anthony. - WHEN: From 8 AM Tuesday to 5 PM MST Wednesday.
- IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
could impact the morning and evening commute. Gusty winds could
bring down tree branches.
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TUESDAY TO 5 PM MST WEDNESDAY:
- WHAT: Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8
inches, except 8 to 12 inches on ridge tops and elevations
above passes. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. - WHERE: Blackfoot Mountains-Caribou Range-Big Hole Mountains-
Teton Valley- Centennial Mountains - Island Park- Including the
cities of Grace, Soda Springs, Henry, Bone, Wayan, Swan Valley,
Victor, Ashton, Tetonia, Driggs, Island Park, and Kilgore. - WHEN: From 8 AM Tuesday to 5 PM MST Wednesday.
- IMPACTS: Travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
could impact the morning and evening commute.
