Rigby Rockets the next generation of Rocketeers

RIGBY, Idaho (KIFI) - Middle and elementary school students gathered at Rigby High School for the Rigby rockets summer camp, a one week day camp to learn about principles of science and rocket building.

On Wednesday, the kids focused on building and testing parachutes which they hope to use on their own rocket designs later this week.

"What excites me most is that a lot of these students end up coming to the high school and becoming more interested in the science and the engineering technology," Rigby Rockets camp director Jeremy Green said. "We have a rocket group at the high school and it's always fun to have these summertime students come in and be a part of our rocket group."

Green works as a science teacher at Rigby High.

He said he founded the camp because he noticed there weren't many activities for kids in the summer that were science based.

"I really just want them to know that they can they can design stuff. It's not hard, but that just takes a lot of trial and error and failure is part of of learning," Green said. "what makes success is when when people struggle and have a hard time and they overcome that, they're able to do tons of cool things, whether it's in science or or anything."
