Wyoming unemployment drops to 5.1 percent

Wyoming’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell one tenth of a percent in November to 5.1 percent. Department of Workforce Services senior economist David Bullard said Wyoming’s unemployment rate was at its lowest level since March 2009.

Bullard said all county unemployment rates followed normal seasonal patterns, increasing from October to November. Colder weather was blamed for a fall in construction, professional and business services, and leisure and hospitality employment.

The largest increases in unemployment were seen in counties where tourism is an important economic sector. Teton County’s unemployment rate rose from 6.1 percent in October to 9.6 percent in November. Lincoln County’s rate rose from 5.6 percent to 6.7 percent.

Sublette County reported the lowest unemployment rate in November at 3.6 percent.
