More details released in Pocatello standoff
Police in eastern Idaho say a standoff that involved a Pocatello police officer firing multiple rounds ended when a man inside a home shot and killed himself.
Bannock County Coroner Kim Quick and Idaho State Police Lt. John Ganske tell the Idaho State Journal that a wound in the man’s chest matched the caliber of the weapon in the man’s possession.
Ganske says Idaho State Police are investigating because of the “multiple rounds” fired by the Pocatello officer during the standoff on Thursday.
Police say no one was struck by that gunfire, and the man didn’t return fire. Police say they later heard a muffled gunshot inside the home.
Authorities have not released the name of the man who died. Ganske says he hopes to have a report finished by midweek.
