Mutt Strut organizers seek volunteers
Organizers are gearing up for a major fundraiser to help them build the first no-kill animal shelter in Idaho Falls.
The seventh annual Mutt Strut is planned for Saturday at Snake River Landing and will raise the funds necessary to build the Snake River Animal Shelter on Lindsay Boulevard.
“It costs $25 to be able to strut your mutt around Snake River Landing on a specific path,” said Cami Smith, director of the shelter.
But right now Smith said she is scrambling to find enough volunteers to help staff the event.
“There’s a lot of preparations to go to this and of course we need volunteers to help out,” said Smith.
In addition to the Mutt Strut itself, there will also be a 5k run and a bike race to Blackfoot and back.
“It’s a nice place to be able to bring your animals — to bring your pets — and be able to have them and have them socialize with other animals,” said Smith.
Smith said she is also hoping to make a big announcement at Saturday’s event.
“I am very excited, in fact, the whole board of Snake River Animal Shelter is just excited to be able to make this big announcement,” said Smith.
