Governor Mead reviews wildfire losses

Wyoming Governor Matt Mead says resources from across the country are being reassigned to help battle four large fires in Wyoming.

Mead said at least 300 homes have been evacuated as a result of the Roosevelt fire near Bondurant. It has been classified as a Type 1 fire and elevated to the nation’s highest priority.

The Ryan Fire is now estimated at 20,000 acres and is zero percent contained.

The Marten fire is 6,300 acres and 20 percent contained.

The Irish fire is being managed by local firefighters.

“Public safety and firefighter safety are the top priority,” said Mead. “I have asked that all resources necessary to fight these fires be made available. My heart is with those whose property and homes are in harm’s way and the firefighters working to protect them.”

A Red Cross shelter is open in Pinedale to provide assistance to those who need it.
