Jackson Hole resource protections released

Teton County, Wyoming and the Town of Jackson Planning Departments have released a draft of new Natural Resource Protections for public review. You can view the proposal here.

The objective is to update land development regulations (LDR) that protect water bodies, wetlands, and wildlife habitat from the impacts of development. In developing its comprehensive plan, the town and county identified natural resource protection as key objective. The plan looks at resources so that the impacts of development are either avoided, minimized, or mitigated.

The community’s goal is that only 40 percent of new development occurs in wildlife habitat.

The draft document includes maps of vegetation and habitat value on all private lands. At the same time, it is intended to provide greater predictability to property owners about the standards that apply to them.

Now that it is available for public review, the draft will be formally presented to the Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission followed by an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 10 at the County Commission Chambers.
