Western Wyoming fire danger heightens
Fire danger is beginning to rise with temperatures and drier weather.
Teton Interagency Fire Center fire managers have elevated danger to “moderate” for the Bridger-Teton National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, the National Elk Refuge and other parts of Teton County.
The danger increased due to summer curing of vegetation and warmer and windy conditions.
Officials used several indicators to determine fire danger. Those include moisture content of grasses, shrubs, trees, and dead and downed materials; projected weather conditions including temperatures and possible wind events; the ability of fire to spread after ignition; and availability of firefighting resources both locally and nationally.
