Idaho Falls parks close for winter

Two areas around the Idaho Falls River Walk trail are closed for the winter; however, the majority of the River Walk will remain open and accessible.

One area that is closed is the floating bridge at Johns’ Hole which connects the west side of the River Walk under US 20. The city said the bridge will reopen in late spring when the water levels return to normal.

Earlier this summer, South Tourist Park, located at 2800 S. Yellowstone Avenue, was converted to a pay-to-stay campground with a camp host. Because of that change, the park will now close during the winter months to eliminate winter expenses associated with plowing the roadway and parking lots in the park.

The water at the park is turned off, and the restrooms and RV dump stations are closed; however, pedestrian access to the park is still permitted.

The River Walk trail system that runs through the park will also remain open and plowed through the winter.
