Nelson sends Firth to state with walk-off single

FIRTH, Idaho (KIFI) - Gabe Nelson hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the 2A District 6 baseball championship for Firth on Tuesday. The Cougars beat North Fremont 5-4 to earn a trip to the state tournament.

Firth will open up the 2A state baseball tournament May 20 at 10 am against the champion from District 4. Halliwell Park in Pocatello will host the tournament.

North Fremont still has a chance to get there. The Huskies will face Bear Lake in a state play-in game Saturday at 1 pm at Blackfoot High School.
