Police look for suspect in sexual assault

Boise police say the person responsible for an unprovoked attack on a woman in a retail parking lot can be anywhere in the Northwest. On Thursday, police said the May 14 attack was sexual assault.

During the attack, another woman in the parking lot offered help to the victim, which officers said caused the suspect to flee. As he was leaving the scene in his pickup, the suspect intentionally swerved and struck her causing significant traumatic injuries, said detectives.

That woman is recovering from serious injuries to her leg and hip.

“The attack on these two women was violent and unprovoked. Anyone who would do this must be considered dangerous and finding him before he acts out against someone else is an absolute priority,” said Deputy Chief William Bones in a news release.

The incident occurred in the south parking lot of a large retail center on the northeast corner of N. Milwaukee Street and West Franklin Road shortly before 9 p.m.

At this time, there is no evidence that either of the victims know the suspect.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned man, possibly late 30s, bald or very short hair, stocky build, blue eyes, wearing a sleeveless shirt and shorts at the time of the attack.

The GMC pickup is around a 1997, is teal in color with silver trim along the bottom. At the time of the attack, the vehicle had a sticker in the lower right corner of the rear window and a Tonneau-type bed cover matching the teal color of the vehicle.
