Students preparing dog treats for local animal shelter
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Students in the culinary class in Idaho Falls School District 91 prepared treats for our animal friends at the Snake River Animal Shelter. The endeavor started as a way for the kids to learn more about the unique foods different cultures and species eat.
Londyn Smith, one of the students helping to prepare the treats, says on Wednesday, April 19 they will deliver the treats in person to our furry friends who are homeless.
"We are going to take them over and just hang out with the dogs and the cats and the animals. And it's super exciting. I love animals and I'm just super excited to see all the animals and play with them," Smith said.
Smith adds they feel like they may be able to help the animals in the shelter feel better, and she is excited about getting not just a treat but play time as well.
"I think even if you're not going to get an animal just like visiting them to see to like, show them like as the animals that, you know, like play with them and they have that like physical, like attention from people. So they're not so lonely because it could be lonely wherever in that kennel or that cage. So I think that also bringing treats because everyone loves treats, even animals. So I think that it will be super fun."
Smith adds she has a good feeling about the treats being a big hit.
"Being a human, when you want to treat, you know, you are super excited. You just eat. You just want to eat so much of them. And we have a lot prepared. And so we are excited. I'm excited to see the dog's different environments and see if they get all excited. I know some dogs will probably be shy. So I think seeing the different environments or different types of dogs will be super interesting."
The students also made sure they had plenty of treats to go around.
