Construction comes back to popular Rexburg intersection
REXBURG, (KIFI)- Construction has once again come to a popular Rexburg intersection. It is the intersection of South Seventh West and Pioneer Road. The project entails the much-needed final pieces for the roundabout project that wrapped up last summer.
"This portion includes the railroad widening section. And so that's why it's taken some time to coordinate with the railroad company. The process will be widening out that intersection, tying in the new signal cabinetry with that and so hopefully will improve the functioning of that intersection and allow more traffic to travel through there because we'll have more lanes lined up in that in that intersection," Rexburg public works director Keith Davidson said.
The hope, Davidson says, is that widening the road in the intersection will not only make the function better but the road itself smoother.
"Now so that'll be widened out so you won't have to turn over and get over to that single lane. And so this widening out will make everything function much more smoothly," Davidson said.
Crews are hoping to have the intersection project finished by Independence Day.
"Depending on what, what, they find out as they dig through that section and then also with the equipment, with the railroad company, with all the installation that they need to do," Davidson said.
