Idaho Falls and Skyline gear up for the 58th Emotion Bowl on Saturday

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - One of the state's great rivalries adds another chapter to its storied history this weekend when the Idaho Falls Tigers and Skyline Grizzlies battle in the 58th Emotion Bowl Saturday.

Regardless of either team's record, this is a special game for both coaches, and one where anything can happen, especially after Idaho Falls erased a 17-point deficit to snap Skyline's seven-game win streak in the series last year.

"You just don't know what's going to happen," Skyline Head Coach Scott Berger said. "The crowd is always big and it always has that kind of college atmosphere and it makes it different than any other game."

"We get a large fan base on both sides," Idaho Falls Head Coach Marty Duffin said. "And it's just cool to see."

Gates open Saturday at 2:00 p.m., there is a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m., and kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.

Also of note, the tradition of the winning team's students painting the goal posts has changed starting this season. For safety reasons, students cannot paint the goal posts on the field. Instead, students can paint a mini goal post outside Ravsten Stadium, while professionals will paint the regular-sized goal posts.
