Local car wash: “There’s one other system like this in the country”
A local car wash in undergoing some major renovations and owners say that when it’s completed, it will be truly one of a kind.
The New Image Car Wash on 1st Street in Idaho Falls was recently purchased from Cardon’s Car Wash.
The new owners are extending the car wash by 25 feet, decking the walls with PVC paneling and even replacing the types of material they use to wash cars.
“It’s a state-of-the-art product. It’s called lamb’s cloth and it’ll be considerably more gentle. A lot more scratch-resistant on your vehicle,” said New Image general manager Brian Birch.
“There’s one other system like this in the country, which is in southern L.A., so this’ll be pretty special for the area,” Birch said.
By redesigning their washing system, New Image hopes to service about 100 cars each hour.
“It’ll be a longer process, but it’ll run quicker, so it’ll actually be shorter in the long run,” said Birch.
While customers wait, there will be no shortage of things to do. New Image has leased out space in their building to a hair salon and a deli.
“We’re able to get some customers that we might not otherwise get that are here waiting and getting their car detailed and that,” said Jason Anderson, with Creative Crpes.
“We’re gonna try and work on getting maybe a few car shows here and there, and have some evening washes where we bring in some music and a few things,” said Birch.
Birch said they plan to open the doors in about two to three weeks.
He said the changes they’re making will allow them to lower prices.
