Chukars future beyond 2020 is in question
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Congressman Mike Simpson is stepping up to the plate to help save the Idaho Falls Chukars. He is joining more than 100 lawmakers in signing a letter to Major League Baseball. It is asking MLB to reconsider a plan to overhaul the minor league farm system.
Under the proposal, Idaho Falls and the rest of the Pioneer League, would lose its affiliation with an MLB parent club in 2021. The current deal between MLB and MiLB expires after the 2020 season.
The two sides are currently negotiating a new deal.
