The bill’s text states that no flags or banners may fly over public schools or in Idaho classrooms “that represent a political viewpoint, including but not limited to flags or banners regarding a political party, race, sexual orientation, gender, or a political ideology.”

“Idaho’s law reflects common sense and biological reality, protecting all students’ privacy and safety in spaces like locker rooms and showers,” Attorney General Labrador said. “Every day, we see more examples of the harms of gender ideology, particularly to women and girls.  We applaud the court’s decision to allow our State Board of Education to continue its job of preserving each student’s privacy, dignity, and safety and providing a quality education for Idaho’s children.”

An engine and wildland firefighters from the Salmon-Challis National Forest responded to a grass fire over the weekend and declared it out the same day. The 1.19-acre fire along the Salmon River Road #030 had been caused by a campfire, according to a post on the Salmon-Challis National Forest Facebook page.

Governor Brad Little was joined by Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield and state lawmakers Monday as he signed Senate Bill 1069 appropriating an additional $5 million in ongoing funding to support literacy in public schools.

Senate Bill 1069 amended the Idaho Code to expand opportunities and professional training for all Kindergarten through third-grade teachers through the Idaho SMART program (Striving to Meet Achievement in Reading Together). The bill allocates an additional $5 million in ongoing funding to support literacy in public schools.

Boise State is one of 45 universities across the nation currently under investigation for allegedly engaging in discriminatory practices in the admission of applicants to their graduate programs.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is warning Idahoans about a phishing scam involving fraudulent text messages that claim recipients owe toll fines. These messages are not legitimate and should be ignored.

On Wednesday, Governor Brad Little signed into law House Bill 37, adopting the firing squad as Idaho’s primary method of execution.

The law will apply to executions carried out on or after July 1, 2026.

A bill that would allow Gem State drivers to carry an electronic copy of their license on their phone is heading to the Senate for further approval. House Bill 78a narrowly passed the Idaho House in a 37-33 vote on Tuesday.
